Data backup is one of the most important activities for recovering and securing smooth run of a company in the case of hardware and software failure, or data loss caused by the user. Backups should be stored not only in the place of their acquisition, i.e. in a primary storage, but in a secondary storage as well, i.e. geographically different location for the case of so-called Disaster Recovery – for the case of the primary storage destruction or data loss, e.g. fire or theft. No less important activity is older data archiving. An inseparable part of data backup must be supervision over backups and testing data recovery from the created backups.
